Thásos - Circuit of island
There is an attractive drive round the island (92km/57mi) on a good road which keeps close to the coast all the way.
From Thásos town the road runs south to Panayía (9km/5.5mi) and Potamiá (12km/7.5mi), on the eastern slopes of Mt Ypsári, with beautiful views over the wooded valley to the sea and the 4km/2.5mi long beach of Khrysi Ammoudiá, on which is the little port of Potamiá Skála (14km/8.5mi).
The road continues via Kínyra (23km/14mi) and the Alikí peninsula (ancient marble quarries, remains of a sanctuary of the Dioskouroi, two Early Christian basilicas) to Potós (45km/28mi), where a road goes off on the right and ascends through a romantic valley to the hill village of Theológos (8km/5mi; alt.
