Singapore Zoological Gardens
The Singapore Zoological Gardens spreads over 28ha/70ac, and is home to over 3,000 mammals, birds and reptiles. Opened in 1973, it is an acclaimed "open" zoo where the use of natural barriers such as streams, rock walls and vegetation separate animals from visitors. The zoo's history is traced to the 1960s when withdrawing British forces left behind their family pets.

Last ticket sale: 11pm. Avoid flash photography, as it startles the animals. The best way to explore the Night Safari is to start off with the tram ride which is less startling to animals. You may get off at tram stations to explore the walking trails through each zone, and easily rejoin the tram anytime.
