Lake Taupo - Trout Fishing

The best fishing grounds on the shores of the lake are at the mouth of the Waitahanui River (15km south of Taupo on Highway 1) and at Hatepe (10km further south, also on Highway 1), where anglers sometimes stand in long rows, almost shoulder to shoulder. Fishing is permitted throughout the year.
