Sedalia - Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum Attractions

The Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum, located in Sedalia, is dedicated to the life and times of Charlotte Hawkins Brown. Dr Brown was a pioneer in the education of African Americans in North Carolina and was the founder of the Palmer Memorial Institute. The grounds of the museum contain several historic buildings, one of which is Dr. Brown's residence. The residence has been extensively restored and can be toured by interested visitors. Also on site are restored dormitories, a visitor's center, and picnic facilities.

The Museum is the first NC State Historic Site dedicated to an African American and to a woman.
