The city of Albemarle is a historical center in North Carolina and is also the county seat of Stanly County. The city was incorporated in 1857 and is named for the Duke of Albemarle. The city owes its prosperity to the textile mills that once dominated the economy of the area. Over the year the city has grown to include an area of 24 square km / 15 square mi and has a population of just over 15,000.
Morrow Mountain State Park
