Wolzer Tauern Description
The main ridge of the Wölzer Tauern, to the east of the Schladminger Tauern, is remote from human settlements of any size. Its peaks, grass covered for much of their height - the Greim (2,474m/8,117ft), the Oberwölzer Schoberspitze (2,423m/7,950ft), etc. - are for the most part easy to climb from the Neunkirchner Hütte (1,525m/5,004ft) near Oberwölz. The lateral ranges on the northern side are among the easiest skiing areas in the Austrian Alps, the most popular being on the Panneralpe (about 1,600m/5,250ft).
