Nice - Monastère Notre-Dame-de-Cimiez

Lying above the Roman ruins of Cemenelum stands the Monastère Notre-Dame-de-Cimiez, originally a Benedictine foundation which was taken over by the Franciscans in the 16th C. and extended in the 17th. Its present appearance is characterized by the restoration carried out according to Gothic models in 1850. The museum shows the life of the Franciscans in Nice from the 13th to the 18th C. and the general spiritual and social work of the Franciscan order.
