Astors' Beechwood Mansion and Victorian Living History Museum
The Beechwood Mansion in Newport was a summer cottage built in 1857 and owned by William Backhouse Astor and his wife Caroline. Tours of the mansion are given by actors dressed in period costume. Special events and seasonal celebrations are held at Beechwood throughout the year.

Belcourt Castle
Belcourt Castle in Newport was built in 1891 for Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont as a 60-room summer cottage. The home is now owned by the Tinnery family. Guided tours are available to the public.

Chateau-Sur-Mer
Chateau-Sur-Mer in Newport was built in 1852 for William S. Westmore. It is a palatial Victorian mansion built by the Ocean. The house features a 45-foot central hall with stained-glass skylights, Victorian furniture, wallpapers, ceramics and stenciling.

Hunter House
The Georgian Colonial Hunter House in Newport was built in 1748 for Jonathan Nichols and has since been restored. The house features period furnishings and paintings.
Kingscote
Kingscote is an 1841 Gothic Revival-style house located in Newport. It was built as a summer residence for George Noble Jones and was later bought by William Henry King who made additions to the home in 1881.

The building features unique towers, gables, eaves and Gothic arches. The inside features Victorian furniture, Oriental paintings, rugs and porcelain.

The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Marble House
The Marble House in Newport was built in 1892 It was designed by Richard Morris Hunt and owned by William K. Vanderbilt. The house features a number of elaborate rooms, with ceiling murals, chandeliers, carved and gilded woodwork, and a grand staircase.

There is a 1913 Chinese teahouse on the grounds.

Rosecliff
Rosecliff mansion in Newport was built in 1902. The mansion was the setting for the film "The Great Gatsby" and "True Lies". It was designed by Stanford White and based on Louis XIV's Grand Trianon at Versailles and features a large ballroom, a 1700's French style staircase, Caen Stone carved fireplace, and other unique details.

The Breakers
The Breakers in Newport was built by Cornelius Vanderbilt in 1895 and reflects the wealth of the Vanderbilt family. The Italian Renaissance "summer cottage" features 70 rooms and was built using imported French and Italian stone, marble and alabaster. Ceiling paintings, mosaics, lavishly decorated rooms, marble columns, and other fine details were all incorporated into the house.

The Elms in Newport is a 1901 mansion built by Horace Trumbauer for Edward J. Berwind It is based on the Château d'Asnière near Paris. The interior features 1700's French antique furniture and Venetian paintings.

Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House
The Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House is the oldest surviving house in Newport and was built for Stephen Mumford in 1697. It has a long history of owners who made additions or alterations.

The house was purchased in 1927 by the Newport Historical Society. Norman Isham, a noted restoration architect was hired to restore the property. He used various styles and periods to showing the evolution of the house.
Tips
The house may be closed to the public during the winter months. Call ahead for opening and closing dates.
