During the Revolutionary War, John Ellison's 1754 Georgian-style house served as the military headquarters for Major General Henry Knox. The Ellison family were noted for milling and trade, remains of their mill are part of this historic site. The Jane Colden Native Plant Sanctuary is also located on the property and may be visited.
