Troy Attractions

Troy was the location where the character, Uncle Sam, was born. Sam Wilson, a meat packer, used a meat stamp that read U S Beef. This was understood to mean Uncle Sam's Beef.

Troy and other neighboring communities form the Hudson-Mohawk Urban Cultural Park, which preserves the history of the meeting place of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers.

The Children's Museum of Science and Technology (CMOST) is designed to allow parents and children the opportunity to learn about science together. Exhibits include the animal nursery, light and vision, Hudson River, motion and the watershed table.

Hart-Cluett Mansion
The Hart-Cluett Mansion is a white marble house that was completed in 1827. Many original and period furnishings, fine and decorative arts are found within this Federal-style mansion.

Uncle Sam's Grave
This is the site of the grave of Samuel Wilson, the original "Uncle Sam". An Army beef contractor in the War of 1812; his trademark and caricature eventually became a national legend.
