With its handsome 19th c. spa facilities (in Saratogo State Park) and other amenities Saratoga Springs, north of Albany on I 87, is a very fashionable resort. During the high season (June to August) there are race meetings, and leading dramatic companies from New York and Philadelphia put on shows in the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
The town features over 1,000 examples of Victorian architecture in eight historic districts. As a resort area, it is gaining popularity as a sports and convention center. Harness racing and polo are popular activities.
Congress Park features an Italian sculpture garden and sculptures by Daniel Chester French. The Walworth Memorial Museum presents the story of a Saratoga family whose family members include authors, lawyers and a murderer.

The Lake George Opera Festival runs from late June through early July and features performances at the Spa Little Theatre. Concerts are also included each season.

The National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs presents thoroughbred racing - past, present and future - through paintings, sculptures, photographs, and videotapes. The Hall of Fame honors horses, jockeys and trainers.
