The Battle of Plattsburgh was fought here on September 11, 1814. Today the town of Plattsburgh offer numerous recreational activities such as golfing, hiking, fishing and skiing.
Clinton County Historical Museum
The Clinton County Historical Museum displays domestic and historical artifacts. A diorama of the Battle of Plattsburgh and the Battle of Valcour is also on exhibit and a collection of Redford glass.

Kent-Delord House Museum
Kent-Delord House Museum is a Federal-style structure that was commandeered by the British in 1814. Displays include American decorative arts and period furniture, the War of 1812, the Civil War and women's issues of the late 19th century.

Plattsburgh Art Museum
Located on the campus of the State University of New York, exhibits include paintings, drawings and books by illustrator Rockwell Kent. Works by Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Peter Paul Rubens are on display. The Myers Fine Art Gallery has changing mixed media exhibits. The Winkel Sculpture Court, next to the gallery, has an outdoor sculpture garden and terrace.

The War of 1812 Museum
The The War of 1812 Museum explores the causes and effects of the War of 1812, often called the "Forgotten War", and the significance of the Battle of Plattsburgh. The Interpretive Center features graphic panels and artifacts, centered around a diorama depicting the battle. The museum also houses regularly changing exhibits.

The KeyBank Gallery displays a variety of war paintings.
