New York State - Hudson River Valley

One of North America's loveliest landscapes begins immediately behind the northern city boundary of New York City. On the west side are Bear Mountain State Park, and the famous West Point Military Academy (guided tours). On the east side, near Kingston, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's birthplace and residence can be visited. Further towards Albany is Olana, a Moorish-style palace, built by Frederic Church, a protagonist of the Hudson River School.
