Glens Falls was founded in 1759 as part of a land grant settlement. The villages was destroyed in 1780 by the British and then resettled in 1788. Visitors to Glens Falls can enjoy a visit to Adirondack Park, which occupies six million acres of public and private land.
The Chapman Historical Museum is housed in the restored Victorian home of the DeLong family, which was remodeled in 1868. The exhibition galleries include period furnishings as well as an area history display of artifacts and photos taken by Seneca Ray Stoddard.

The Hyde Collection Art Museum is housed in a furnished Florentine Renaissance mansion. The collections range from paintings, sculpture, tapestries and period furniture that date back to the 4th century B.C.
