Clayton Attractions

The Thousand Islands extend above and below Clayton on the St Lawrence River. The Thousand Islands craft school, located in Clayton, offers folk arts and crafts.

Clayton has three museums - the Antique Boat Museum, the Handweaving Museum and Arts Center, and the Thousand Islands Museum.

The Antique Boat Museum in Clayton features a collection of boats such as an American Indian dugout, birch bark canoe, St Lawrence skiff, early 20th century speedboats, launches and pleasure craft. The Gold Cup Building houses a collection of racing boats including the legendary Dixie II, winner of more than 100 races.

Read More Thousand Islands Museum

The Museum is housed in the Town Hall/Opera House built in 1903. A replica of the World Record Muskie is on exhibit along with the Best of Show Decoys. Exhibits include turn of the century life along the St Lawrence River.
