The Vanderbilt Museum was the residence of William K. Vanderbilt II, great-grandson of New York's railroad and shipping magnate "Commodore" Cornelius Vanderbilt. The Spanish-style Revival mansion features 24 rooms and was built between 1910 and 1936. Period pieces, antiques and original furnishings fill the Vanderbilt Museum. Marine and wildlife specimens, 68 types previously unknown to science, are found throughout the mansion and museum.
