Batavia Attractions
Robert Morris bought 3 million acres in western New York from Massachusettes in 1797. At that time, Batavia was the only junction of the Old Genesee Road and Tonawanda Creek Indian trail. Morris sold most of this land to the Dutch Holland Land Company and the town was named for the Netherlands republic that the owners came from.
