Description
The Museum of the American Piano founded by Kalman Detrich, opened its doors to the public in 1984. It is a non-profit organization recognized by the state of New York, Board of Regents. Its purpose is to establish, furnish, maintain and operate a museum housing and to collect early pianos of historical, technical and musical significance, including the acquisition and restoration of same. It is also to teach traditional methods of working on and maintaining older and newer pianos including woodworking, wood finishing, tuning, repairing and restoring.
