The beautifully laid out City Park is in the north of the city near Lake Pontchartrain. This park, the oldest and largest in the city, was won from the swampland. In the south part of the park the New Orleans Museum of art has an excellent collection of European classical modern art as well as treasures of Indian and black African art.
The New Orleans Museum of Art was funded by millionaire sugar broker Isaac Delgado in 1910. Displays include sculpture, photography, decorative arts and a Faberge collection.
