New Norfolk - Surroundings

The township of Boyer (neighboring New Norfolk), on the north bank of the Derwent, is dominated by a large paper mill.

Rewarding excursions from New Norfolk are to the Plenty Salmon Ponds (11km west), where the first trout hatchery in Australia was established in 1864, to Mount Field National Park (30 km), with the Russell Falls, and to Lake Pedder, at the north end of the large South West National Park.
