Silver City Attractions

The Francis McCray Gallery at Western New Mexico University has a collection of American and Japanese prints.

Piños Altos Ghost Town is located on a hillside up NM 15 from Silver City. Named for the tall pines in the area, the town was once a booming mining center. It now has a museum full of Old West memorabilia.

The Silver City Museum has exhibits on mining and milling, as well as numerous artifacts from the surrounding area.

The Western New Mexico University Museum in Silver City has prehistoric artifacts and a photographic exhibit.

Western New Mexico University in Silver City was established in 1893 on 20 acres donated by John W Fleming. The university offers degrees in 70 fields of study. The Miller Library on campus has over 98,000 books and 34,000 microfilm titles.
