Columbus Attractions
The town of Columbus sits at an altitude of 4,050 feet, near the Mexican border. The town was nearly destroyed in 1916 during a raid by Pancho Villa, the last foreign invasion of the United States.

Hacienda del Sur Air Park
Hacienda del Sur Air Park is five miles north of Columbus, with a replica of the plane used by the First Aero Squad in retaliation against Pancho Villa.
Pancho Villa State Park
Pancho Villa State Park commemorates the raid on Columbus by General Francisco "Pancho" Villa on March 9, 1916. There are ruins of an old fort and an exhibit hall containing a full-size replica airplane, historic artifacts, military weapons and an armored tank located outside the facility.
