Clovis Attractions

Eight miles west of Clovis is Cannon Air Force Base, which plays a major role in the town's economy.

The Clovis Model Train Museum is housed in the restored Clovis Santa Fe Passenger Depot. The depot has an operating telegraph station, railroading artifacts, and nine toy train layouts.

The Eula Mae Edwards Museum is part of Clovis Community College, and features the work of local artists.

The Hillcrest Park and Zoo in Clovis has 500 animals, most of which are exhibited in their natural habitat.

Ned Houk Memorial Park, north of Clovis, includes 3,320 acres of grassland, ponds and trees.

Located on 7th Street in Clovis, Norman Petty Studios is the place where Buddy Holly recorded "Peggy Sue" and 18 other hits. Other artists to use the facilities include Roy Orbison and LeAnn Rimes. The facility is no longer used for recording however visitors can tour the studio.

The Pappy Thornton Museum in Ned Houk Memorial Park has antique farm equipment and other agricultural exhibits.
