Cimarron Attractions

Cimarron is in Colfax County in northeastern New Mexico, about 40 miles west of Raton on U.S. 64. Cimarron means "wild" or "untamed" which suited the town during the 1860s to 1880 - it was a magnet for every outlaw in the area. The town was revived in the early 1900s when the railroad and lumber industry arrived.

Today Cimarron has numerous museums and historic buildings as well as the nearby Sangre de Cristo mountains where recreation opportunities abounds.
