Carson National Forest

 
Carson National Forest is one of five national forests in New Mexico, named for frontier scout Kit Carson. The 1,390,800 acres are divided into seven ranger districts: Canjilon, El Rito, Jicarilla, Penasco, Questa, Taos and Tres Piedras. Wilderness areas include Wheeler Peak, Latir Peak, Pecos, Cruces Basin and the Chama River Canyon.
