Bernalillo Attractions

Bernalillo is located just north of Albuquerque on the Rio Grande, in Sandoval County. The first settlers arrived in 1698; to this day it still remains a Spanish and American Indian farming community.

Bernalilo is an outdoor lovers paradise offering horseback riding, camping, bicycling, boating as well as winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and ice skating.
Coronado Campground (formerly Coronado State Park)
Coronado Campground in Bernalillo has views of the Sandia Mountains. The park has 210 acres on the Rio Grande.

Coronado State Monument
Coronado State Monument in Bernalillo has the ruins of Kuaua Pueblo, where the Spanish explorer Coronado is thought to have spent the winter of 1540-41 looking for the Cities of Gold. It is adjacent to Coronado State Park on the Rio Grande. A restored kiva, sacred chambers normally off limits to non-Indians, is open for visitors.
