Angel Fire Attractions
Angel Fire was named by the Ute Indians for the glow on the mountain tops at dawn and dusk. The town is located 26 miles east of Taos on U.S. 64, in Colfax County. Angel Fire is a year-round resort offering skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling or sledding in winter. The summer months bring opportunity for fishing, golfing, hiking, and cycling.
Reaching 11,086 feet, Agua Fria Peak is near Angel Fire on the edge of the Moreno Valley.
Balky Peak is on the edge of the Moreno Valley near Angel Fire, reaching 12,441 feet.
Angel Fire is the site of the Dav Vietnam Veterans National Memorial. This national shrine to the fallen soldiers of the Vietnam War was constructed by Dr Victor Westphall who lost his son David in 1968 in an enemy ambush in Vietnam.
The structure is 50 feet high and includes a chapel and visitor's center.
