Tuckerton Attractions
Tuckerton was settled by Quakers in the late 1600s. In 1791, it was designated America's third port of entry by George Washington. Tucker's island Lighthouse fell into the sea in 1927 - tides and storms are to blame for much of the change in geography.
New Jersey - Pine Barrens, New Jersey
The Pine Barrens of New Jersey covers an area from Lebanon State Forest to the Forked River Mountains, from Long Beach Island and Tuckerton west to Chatsworth. The heart of the area is scrub and pitch pine, rivers, swamps, and bogs. Cranberry and blueberry crops thrive in the Barrens, approximately 25 per cent of the state's agriculture income comes from this area.
Tuckerton Seaport
Tuckerton Seaport is a recreated seaport featuring a clamming shack, hunting shanty, decoy-carving shop and boat works. Traditional skills and folk art are demonstrated daily such as boat building and basket making.
