Lucy is a 65-foot wood and tin elephant, built in 1881 to attract prospective buyers to summer homes in the area. Since then, Lucy has been a tavern, a summer home, and an observation deck of sorts. Lucy was rescued from near demise in the sixties and today stands proud in Margate.
