Madison Attractions
Settled in 1685, Madison was known as Bottle Hill after a local tavern that existed in Colonial days. It was renamed to honor President James Madison.
Museum of Early Trades & Crafts began from a donation of hand tools and artifacts of the pre-industrial age. Tools and techniques of trades and crafts from the late 1600s to 1850 are explained through changing exhibits. The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts now boasts over 8,000 items relating to 21 different trades such as tools for cobblers, tinsmiths, wheelwrights, and other trades that have disappeared or become mechanized.
