Captain Henry Hudson first discovered Fort Lee in 1609. Fort Lee became part of American history during the 1776 British campaign to control New York City and the Hudson River.

The town of Fort Lee is the starting point for the Long Path, a 330-mile hiking trail that ends in Altamont, New York.
