Barnegat Light Attractions
Located at the northern tip of Long Beach Island, the area that is now known as Barnegat Light was described in a deed from the English Crown in 1692.
Barnegat Lighthouse
The original Barnegat Lighthouse was constructed in 1824 but had to be replaced by 1855. In 1857-59 the second Barnegat Lighthouse was built. The Barnegat Light Museum houses the original lens and is housed in the old Barnegat City one-room-schoolhouse.
Barnegat Lighthouse State Park
Barnegat Lighthouse State Park is a 32-acre parkland surrounding the Barnegat Lighthouse. The Maritime Forest nature trails provide a unique environment for migratory birds to rest and feed on their long journey. Fishing, crabbing and birdwatching opportunities are available.
