Lincoln (pop. 1,300) is located at the west end of the scenic Kancamagus Highway in White Mountains National Forest. The town is a good base from which to explore the surrounding area.
Clark's Trading Post features a variety of entertainment and historical displays. Visitors can see black bear performances, take a ride on the White Mountain Central Railroad, visit an 1884 fire station with antique equipment or the historical museum with a range of different artifacts. There are also rides and other amusements for children.
A gondola takes visitors up 7,000ft/2,130m to the summit of Loon Mountain for panoramic views of White Mountain National Forest. In the winter the gondola services the ski hill. There is an observation tower as well as hiking trails at the top. The are also offers horseback riding, mountain biking, and a variety of shows, including a lumberjack demonstration and a mountaineer storyteller.
