Dover (pop. 27,000) is thought to be the oldest permanent settlement in New Hampshire, founded in 1623. The downtown area features restored Colonial and Victorian style buildings. It is located in Strafford County in southeast New Hampshire.
The Children's Museum of New Hampshire offers two levels of hands-on, custom-created exhibits for children ages 1-12. Children can explore a wide range of subjects, from dinosaurs, music and aeronautics to world cultures, art and natural history. A special area on the second floor has been designed especially for children under age 4 with a large train set, board books and puppets to spark imaginative play.
