At the point where the three states of Nevada, Arizona and California meet, Don Laughlin established a town on the banks of the Colorado River in 1969. Laughlin has now developed into a boom town with a number of large hotels.Known as a calmer alternative to Las Vegas, Laughlin is a pleasant city situated on the banks of the Colorado River. Laughlin is just 144km / 90mi south of Las Vegas and offers the visitor a wide variety of amenities and eleven top-notch resort hotels. Classic Auto Exhibition Hall
Fans of vintage automobiles will enjoy a visit to the Classic Auto Exhibition Hall in Laughlin. Here, over 80 beautifully restored automobiles glisten under the spotlights. Some of the automobiles of note are limousines that gangsters used to the motorcycle Steve McQueen rode in the 1963 movie the Great Escape. The Classic Auto Exhibition Hall is located in the Riverside Hotel.
Grapevine Canyon
Grapevine Canyon near Laughlin is a historical place. One of the highlights of a visit to the canyon is the petroglyphs carved into the rocks. Weird and wonderful images delight the senses and create an aura of wonderment. Note that the images are contained within narrow canyons and that you will have to squeeze into them in order to view the petroglyphs.
Laughlin River Tours
As you climb aboard one of the steamboats and the whistle sounds, you will be swept away by the wonderful sights of Laughlin. Cruising up and down the Colorado River, Laughlin River Tours provides visitors with a running commentary on the history of the city and surrounding areas. On board, visitors will find a snack bar and two lounges.
Del Rio Cruises
When visiting Laughlin, be sure to experience one of the city's great attractions, the Del Rio Cruises. Visitors will experience a 1.5-hour cruise on an 17m / 55 ft luxury yacht complete with a narrated history of the city and surrounding areas. The boat docks at the River Palms Resort Hotel.
USS Riverside
The USS Riverside is a tour boat based in Laughlin. This medium sized craft plies the water from the Riverside Resort to the Davis Dam. Visitors are treated to a running narrative on Laughlin and the surrounding areas. The USS Riverside docks at the Riverside Resort.
