Doesburg Attractions
The old Hanseatic town of Doesburg, at the junction of the Gelderse and the Oude IJssel, received its municipal charter in 1287. The town walls were built by Menno van Coehoorn in the 17th century.
Doesburg has a number of handsome brick buildings in the style of the Lower Rhine. Among them are the Grote Kerk or St Martinikerk (15th-16th C.); the Weigh-House (Waag), now a restaurant; and the Old Town Hall.
In the Gildenhof are a number of shops and workshops (potter's, pewterer's, cheese dairy, mustard and vinegar factory) and a small museum.
