Minden (pop. 3,000) is named for a German city that was the hometown for the founder, Frederick Bredemeier. The town is located in Kearney County in southern Nebraska.
The Pioneer Village complex in Minden features 28 buildings with more than 50,000 historical items. The site has a Frontier Fort. The art collection includes Currier and Ives prints. More than 350 antique automobiles are featured including trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles and tractors.

The Minden Opera House was built in 1891. It is a theater and art gallery featuring an illuminated mural ceiling.
