Gering Attractions

Gering (pop. 7,700) lies just east of Scotts Bluff National Monument, a well-known landmark on the Oregon Trail. The town was founded in 1887.
North Platte Valley Museum
Exhibits at the North Platte Valley Museum in Gering detail settlement of the area. A sod house and log cabin showcase the early lives of settlers. An American Indian and fur trade exhibit shows the activities of the earliest American Indian inhabitants.

Wyobraska Wildlife Museum
The Wyobraska Wildlife Museum in Gering features more than 500 mounted animals from seven continents in hand-painted dioramas showing the animals in their native habitats. It is housed in a historic Union Pacific Rail Depot.
