Andøy

From Harstad, after the turning for Lødingen Road 19 runs north, follows the shores of the Gullesfjord and then turns inland, continuing west to the Sortlandsund. Here Road 82 branches off and runs up to the north end of Hinnøy, then crosses the Andøy bridge on to Andøy, the most northerly island in the group, with extensive areas of moorland from which hills rise to heights of up to 600m/2,000ft. To the east is a coal seam (not worked) extending into the sea.
