Wang Takrai Park

To get to Wang Takrai Park from Nakhon Nayok take Highway 33 for 6 km (4 mi.) then fork right and the park is in a hilly river valley 11 km (7 mi.) further on. It covers an area of 80 ha (198 acres) and was laid out in 1955 by Prince Chumbot who is commemorated by a memorial on the river bank. When he died in 1959 his wife carried on his work and opened the park up to the public. She created a kind of botanical gardens full of native and imported trees and shrubs in a setting of lawns and parkland. There are bungalows for overnight accommodation.

Chao Pu Khun Dan
The way to the Wang Takrai Park passes the Chao Po Khun Dan rock temple, named after one of the close confidants of King Naresuen (1590-1605). Several gilded Buddhas stand under a rock wall. The gold was donated by the local people to show their gratitude to Chao Po Khun Dan, whom they believe is the guardian spirit of the mountains.
Nam Tok Nang Rong
The road to the left before the Wang Takrai Park entrance leads, after 5 km (3 mi.), to the Nam Tok Nang Rong waterfall, cascading over three rock ledges down into the valley. By climbing some stone steps it is possible to reach the rocks above the falls and watch this natural spectacle from there, although it is only worth seeing in the rainy season. Footpaths lead through the dense forest.
