Municipal Museum Description
(Local Name: Stadtmuseum) Munich's Municipal Museum is housed in the Zeughaus, the old municipal Arsenal (a gabled building of the 15th C. with corner turrets which has preserved its vaulted Gothic hall), the adjoining Marstallgebäude (Court Stables; 15th C., reconstructed in 1977-78) and a 20th C. extension. The museum, opened in 1988, gives a comprehensive view of the city's cultural and civic history.

The museum boasts a wide variety of collections in the fields of art, small-scale plastic arts, graphic art (including a vast collection of posters), photography and film.
