Lenbachplatz
Lenbachplatz in Munich is a typical example of turn-of-the-century urban design. The buildings are grouped with a view to picturesque effect, without any precise plan or close relation to one another.
To the south the square opens into Karlsplatz (Stachus); on its west side are the massive Old Law Courts (Justizpalast) and the entrance to the Botanischer Garten, with Herigoyen's Neo-Classical gate; and on the north is the palatial building occupied by the Bavarian stock exchange (Börse).

Artists' House
The recently renovated Künstlerhaus (Artists' House) was built by Gabriel von Seidl in 1892-1900 as a meeting-place for the leading Munich artists of the day. It is a tall square building with curving gables and two lower wings enclosing a courtyard in front of it. The lavish interior decoration, only part of which has survived in its original state, was mainly designed by the prince of painters Franz von Lenbach.
The Künstlerhaus is now occupied by the Mövenpick restaurant and a small theater.

Wittelsbach Fountain
The Wittelsbacherbrunnen (Wittelsbach Fountain; 1893-95) was erected to commemorate the completion of the new municipal water-supply system.
The fountain, the work of the sculptor Adolf von Hildebrand, is picturesquely situated on the east side of Lenbachplatz, in front of the clumps of trees in Maximiliansplatz. In its large circular basin, with a high fountain base supporting two smaller basins, are two pieces of sculpture - a youth on a water-horse hurling a boulder and a woman riding another aquatic creature pouring water from a vessel (symbolizing the power and beneficence of water).
