Description
In the center of Mulhouse Old Town is the market square, the Place de la Réunion, with the Town Hall (1552), a handsome Renaissance building with mural paintings on the facade and a double external staircase. The council chamber has 16th and 17th century stained glass, and the Town Hall houses a Historical Museum. Opposite is the 15th century Maison Mieg. The church of St-Etienne has fine 15th century windows and 17th century choir stalls. Other buildings of interest in Mulhouse Old Town are the Pharmacie au Lys (1646), the Cour des Chaînes (converted into a dwelling-house in the 16th century), the Tour du Diable and the 13th century chapel of St-Jean. In the Place de l'Europe is the 31-story Tour de l'Europe, with a revolving restaurant at the top.
