Waldburg (683m/2,241ft; pop. 1,200) lies off the main road 7km/4.5mi west of Freistadt. The parish church of Mary Magdalene has three fine Gothic winged altars, a crucifix (c. 1510) and beautiful old choir stalls of 1522.
