Los Alzati

After returning from San José Purúa along the MEX 15 for 6km/4mi a track leading across fields is reached. Follow this for 4km/2.5mi to arrive at the old Indian ruins of Los Alzati (Camaji). It is attributed to the Matlatzinca of the late Classic period (ad 700-900) and comprises an impressive several-storeyed complex of pyramids of which only a small part has been uncovered. As well as platforms stones chiselled with cult signs can be seen.
