Opposite Colegio de San Nicolás stands the massive Clavijero Palace, named after Francisco Javier de Clavijero, a Jesuit teacher. Part of the complex is the Iglesia de la Compañía, a Jesuit church built between 1660 and 1681. It now houses the Biblioteca Pública (Public Library).
