Montréal - Place d'Youville

Place d'Youville to the south of Place Royale in Montreal was where in the 17th/18th c. canoes plied the waters of the Saint-Pierre River, now underground, as it flowed into the St Lawrence. Today the square is surrounded by 19th and 20th c. buildings. The courtyard of the Écuries d'Youville, close by, has some interesting old warehouses dating from about 1825.
