Livingston (pop. 6,900) flourished when the Northern Pacific Railroad laid tracks in 1882. The town is at the head of Paradise Valley in southcentral Montana through which the Yellowstone River flows and several mountain ranges rise above.
The Fly Fishing Center in Livingston features displays that include a collection of fishing art, fly-fishing memorabilia, hundreds of flies and aquariums filled with cold and warm water fish.

The Livingston Depot Center was built in 1902 as the Northern Pacific Railroad's access point to the Yellowstone National Park. The station was built in Italian Renaissance style by the firm responsible for New York's Grand Central Station.
The Yellowstone Gateway Museum in Livingston is home to an extensive collection of artifacts and exhibits featuring Park County, Yellowstone Park, railroad, pioneer, and Old West History.
