Mons - Jardins du Mayeur

Through the courtyard of the City Hall can be found the Jardins du Mayeur, the Burgomaster's garden which has a fountain representing a street urchin of Mons. On the left is the Conciergerie, the old civic prison of 1512 with a torture chamber.

Musée de la Vie Montoise
The Musée de la Vie montoise on the left of the Museum of Art is a very beautiful museum which in a very vivid way describes the life of the people in Mons. It is housed in the Maison Jean Lescarts, a convent building of 1632 and in three rooms exhibits everyday objects and objets d'art.
