Mondorf-les-Bains is a small town situated in the southeastern part of the country. It is protected from the winds by the surrounding hills and its favorable climate makes it an ideal thermal and tourist locale.
The new thermal establishment "Mondorf le Domaine Thermal" houses a health center, a sports and leisure club and a hotel (open year
round). The thermal installations rank among the most modern and are fed by springs supplying a mineral water of 24°C. The water is used for the treatment of liver, gall bladder, stomach and intestinal problems, as well as rheumatism. The health center also specializes in physical rehabilitation and breath education and has a medical center. A laboratory and a radiology service are to be added to the assortment of facilities already available. The sports and leisure club offers, among other things, a climbing wall and squash and tennis courts. The Thermarium contains Roman baths, a Turkish Ottoman bath complex, a Japanese bath and ladies sauna, a Finnish sauna with three cubicles, and a Tyrolean "Schwitzstüberl." In addition, there is a thermal swimming pool at 36°C (indoor and outdoor) and an open-air swimming pool at 28°C with contra-current, waterfalls and a geyser.
Mondorf Park (50 hectares) has trees, shrubs and plants, flower beds, green sward, spring flowers and a rose garden, flower shows in summer and art exhibitions at the Kind Spring pavilion.
During the whole year Mondorf offers a large choice of attractions: tennis, fencing and archery tournaments and horse training and racing. There are guided walks and coach sightseeing tours. The town has a heated open-air swimming pool, as well as numerous festivities and evening entertainment. The local orchestra plays daily concerts. Weekly entertainment programs and riding competitions are offered.
Also worth visiting in Mondorf are St Michael's Church (1764-1766) with its furniture and frescoes; the Castel, a little Roman fortress transformed into a hermitage during the Middle Ages; and the Art Nouveau houses.
A kilometer from Mondorf is the village of Ellange with its restored church and flowered surroundings. There is also a restored church at Altwies and possibilities for riding in the area.
